Before and After of the Driveway

Now that the driveway is complete, its good to look at a side by side comparison of the driveway, which you can see in the photo below.

As you can see, the removal of the gravel to the right of the house, along with the removal of a lot of the bushes and plants to the left have really tidied up the front of the house. There is still a bit of a front garden on the left which provides a bit of privacy to both the front window in our house and the front window for next door.

It may not look like much of a raising of the driveway, but we were told it took about 5 tons of rubble to build up the left hand side of the driveway. They had also levelled the right had side of the driveway to be more in line with the pavement. 

There is now more drainage to the front of the house, and a raised bed which has some new plants and bushes in. This drains away surprisingly well considering it is surrounded by bricks. 

The increased space on the driveway means we now have space for 3 cars comfortably, 4 snugly and even a 5th blocking in the other cars. This is compared to the 3 snugly and potential 4th before hand. 

Overall it has given the front of the house a new fresher look and has provided plenty of space for guests.
